MUSIC

original music and sound design
for projects in media, film and theatre.

Sam Slater focusses mostly on creating artificial environments using field-recordings and synthesis. Having achieved a First Class Honours in Music from Leeds University, UK, and multiple production credits on film and major label releases, his focus for 2015 is on several contemporary dance pieces throughout Germany and further production work in his Berlin studio. His ongoing participation with the noise & soundart scene, founded by a knowledge of composition and sound-design, supports his commercial output and furthers SRR's primary aesthetic.

Over several years of discovering music production and audio-engineering, eclecticism has become the trademark of Levi Raphael’s work for theatre, radioplays and commercial work throughout Germany.  His output explores musical idiom as well as the sociological background and effects of music. In 2015, Levi sets sail to discover the musical diversity of the gaming-continent.

Owen was a choir boy who studied with a bunch of whizz whizz electro-acoustic composers at Duhram and Oxford. Since completing his Masters in Composition he’s been sat wandering the globe and exposing the intricacies of instrumental timbre, rhythmic illusion and textural development. He occasionally can be seen in the company of the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, or returning home too late.

Who we are.

We are two English musicians who met in a shared studio in Berlin. We set up Wasch Maschine Music to pool our strengths in instrumental composition and production.

We are stimulated by sonics. We believe unique is easy. We work hard and fast, with you, towards perfection.

Who we aren’t.

We're not a shiny commercial studio that enjoys making euro-trance sync records. We won’t send you five different versions of the same piano line. We drink coffee and talk about timbre whilst making “whizz” noises.

Sam Slater

Sam focusses on creating artificial environments using field-recordings and synthesis. Having achieved multiple production credits on film and major label releases, his focus for 2015 will be on several contemporary dance pieces throughout Germany and further production work in his room full of toys.

An ongoing participation with the noise & sound-art scene, founded by his study of composition and sound-design, supports his commercial output and makes him say “whizz” and “bang” too much.

Owen Roberts

As a composer Owen gets more excited about grinding timbral textures than anybody should ever get excited about anything. Thankfully, his Masters in Composition from Oxford, his international orchestral collaborations and regular participation in the Berlin electronic and improvisation scenes justify his bouncy excitement.

2015 will see him continue to collaborate with Johann Johansson, Raz Ohara and his CTM Berlin Current supported ensemble, Eugenes.

Owen’s LinkedIn is here, and his Facebook Artist Page is here.
